Full time – 40 Hours per week
The Philanthropy team serves to advance the mission of the agency using a myriad of strategies and activities. The Donor & Communications Specialist is a critical member of the Philanthropy team, and as such, works closely with the Philanthropy team to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising and outreach plan. This position will specialize in implementing our agency communications strategy, raising awareness in the broader community, and deepening ReadyKids relationships with donors contributing less than $1,000 annually.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4 years) in relevant field required. Experience in the nonprofit sector, including communications and marketing experience, preferred.
- Possess strong people skills, be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a collaborative team-oriented environment, and exercise sound judgment and problem solving skills while completing tasks of the position.
- Solid multi-tasker that is flexible and enjoys varied job tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to express and transmit ideas in a clear and organized manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships within and outside the agency in a professional manner.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canva, email marketing tools, and Adobe Suite Design Software.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
- Salary: starting at $50,000

Essential Job Duties
Professional Knowledge and Abilities:
- Keep informed of developments and best practices in the fields of development, communications, and related fields.
Donor Relations
- Actively cultivate and engage assigned donors, utilizing a variety of strategies including Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Monthly Giving, etc.
- Serve as point of contact for community members interested in contributing in-kind donations, organizing drives, and hosting community fundraisers.
- Lead agency in-kind campaigns including the holiday board game and art supply drive, diaper drives, snack drives and event raffle prizes.
- Actively cultivate and engage volunteers to meet specific agency needs and deepen volunteers’ ability to serve as community ambassadors for ReadyKids.
- Maintain thorough and accurate donor and volunteer records in the donor database (Keela) and agency Performance Management System.
Communications
- Lead efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the organization as a whole and individual programs as requested
- Work closely with the Philanthropy Team and other key staff to ensure consistent agency messaging. Develop collateral materials to roll out messaging to key stakeholders including staff, board, program participants and community partners.
- Create communication materials including but not limited to the ReadyKids Impact Report, the All Agency Brochure, the Annual Report, event collateral and videos.
- Manage website content for ReadyKids and social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Supervision
- Meet regularly with supervisor to coordinate efforts and keep supervisor informed about progress on initiatives to most effectively meet agency’s needs
- Be prepared for and provide input at team and other agency meetings.
Administrative
- Work with and report to Executive Director, Director of Philanthropy, and Board as appropriate to develop and maintain agency communications strategy, analyze results, work plan, and calendar.

- Manage communications and media for special projects as needed.
Volunteer Management
- Participate in public speaking and outreach events to introduce new volunteers to ReadyKids and raise awareness of agency services.
Professional Development
- Examine self, program, and agency to adapt activities to meet the needs of a diverse group of participants, donors, and/or community partners.
- Actively engage in training and awareness-building activities that expand your working knowledge of equity-related topics. Take part in agency-sponsored CARE training and activities and join in dialogue about their significance to you and your work.
